Who am I?

Pleased to meet you. Of course, this is all strategic:

I am using all my writing and content creation skills to tell a good story about myself, with the final objective to make you curious about what would be like to work with me. And, go figure, this story is true.

Storyteller.

I am a writer.

I love to tell stories and I know people love a story well told.

Well written narratives communicate memorable moments in life.

I have been writing for more than 30 years, now.

I wrote to communicate brand visions, strategies, adverts, contents for digital or training, articles, short stories and a novel.

It was this passion for telling stories that turned me into an Executive Creative Director in two of the major global Advertising Agencies, and the one which helped me start my own company as a Communications Strategist in 2005.

Strategist.

I currently work as
Communications' Strategist.

But I also develop projects as a Content Creator and Copywriter for brands and companies I admire and that are aligned with my values and principles.

I’ve also launched Womanity.

More than a project, Womanity was a movement which purpose was to help women in their empowerment, be it through knowledge or by bridging both individuals and companies towards a productive and consistent change in the recognition and development of women.

Womanity moved back to its source, Humanity, and metamorphosed into an initiative that helps individuals and groups communicate better, thus enhancing their talent and becoming more productive.

Psychologist.

My field of study, and graduation.

I love people, especially (indubitably) their stories. This led me to a graduation in Psychology and Education Sciences, and to an endless will to study about the human being and the human wholeness.

I am putting my two fields of expertise – Communication and Psychology – at work, helping individuals and groups to become the authors of their own lives by communicating better either with themselves or with others.

Mother.

My two sons are my best works of art.

Other than what I told before, my mother was Spanish, my father was Portuguese, my great grandmother was from India, my siblings were born in Angola, and my relatives are all over the world.

But that’s a totally different story, one I’d rather tell in front of a glass of Portuguese white wine.

My super power.

It drives me to this never ending need to learn, to know, to grow. As it also drives me to observe and be an empathic, active listener: good stories are all around, waiting patiently to be discovered.

How to create a brand for a podcast that aims to be different,
in a world crowded with podcasts?

Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos had this objective: to create a podcast in which the main themes of Politics, Science, Society and Economy could be told to a mainstream target in an interesting and, especially, in an irreverent way.

Launched in 2021, it reached Top 5 in the first semester of the year.

This project was created in proud partnership with FalcaoLucas, Fred Pinto Ferreira and Dizplay Soundlab.

Womanity

How to promote women empowerment?

When a woman tells her story, when she speaks openly about what she knows or lets her voice be heard, she inspires an entire world of other women. She helps them believe it is possible, she shows them a different way, she tells them they’re not alone.

Womanity: an online magazine and a podcast, mainly written and spoken by women who wish to share their knowledge and experience in order to inspire other women.

In two years, more than 100 women from allover the world shared their testimonials.

This project was co-founded by me and Tânia Falcão, and counted with the generous
collaboration of FalcaoLucas and Dizplay Soundlab.

Surprise

How to revive a dead product in the biggest crisis the world has had in the last decades?

With the COVID-19 pandemic the shopping malls were forced to shut down. However, the businesses had to keep on rolling, and the only chance was to revive Surprise, a gift card that had been forgotten, but could ensure future sales for all the mall’s shops and ROI to Sonae Sierra.

In 3 months, 1.5M cards were sold, exceeding all expectations in 200%.

This project was created in proud partnership with FalcaoLucas.

Life.

A collection of stories concocted by my imagination, by what I see on the streets, what I gently borrow from other people’s experiences, or just a product of sheer contemplation. Because every glimpse of life is too precious not to be seen, felt, cherished or told.

Are you playing the game?

Let’s look at us, women, for a moment.

In fact, let me invite you to take more time than a moment, and reflect on how we see, treat and think of other women.

History has shown that it was easy to build competition among us; you know the saying: a lie told many times becomes the truth. And so we were told not to like our bodies, to compare ourselves to others, to see another woman as a possible threat, to be quiet and delicate instead of loud and strong (as if they were mutually exclusive), to fear aging, to crush our self worth and live in a constant impostor syndrome…

It lies right here

I don’t remember thinking about my body in my childhood. My relationship with it was quite a happy, functional one: it allowed me to run, swim as much as I wanted to, stretch, feel warm or cold, or warned me through my tummy whenever I ate too much ice cream.

But when teenage-hood arrived, something changed: there were times in which I felt too tall, too skinny. Others where I eagerly wanted to hide my breast. Were my legs too tall, too short? Was I too blonde, or not blonde enough? Comparison-age had begun and brought along the age of ‘not being enough something’: are you one of the most beautiful? Are you one of the most sexy? Be less than ‘that’ and you are doomed.

Enjoy the silence.

We live surrounded by noise. The noise of the places we live in, the sounds created by us, the babble, the buzz, the prattle generated by the potpourri of our soundscape. However, nothing is louder than the chatter in our minds. The incessant, bold, affirmative rhetoric of words that come along and do not allow us to be silent. Or that we do not wish to silence.

The end.

Enough is enough. To say more would be too long and you certainly have other things to do.

Just a quick, final remark to say that I love good, to-the-point briefings. In case you don’t have one, I’ll gladly help, but I do not work without an agreed briefing. It’s a waist of my time, and a waist of yours.
